After years of study, consultation, and endless discussion, MTO has moved to make changes to regulations respecting motor coach under-body inspections to make them more realistic. Currently inspections are required every 12,000 kms or 30 days, whichever comes first. The proposed change will allow the inspections to occur at 12,000 kms or 30 days whichever comes last. This is something OMCA has been lobbying for a very long time and we are very excited, and grateful, that the government is now moving forward on this.

A rash of blistering Ontario licence plates, coupled with a bump in new-vehicle sales, has forced the provincial government to special order 100,000 plates from a Nova Scotia manufacturer.
Since 2012, thousands of vehicle owners around the province have had their plates blister, peel or fade, which is a "common issue" when using reflective backgrounds for licence plates, according to a statement from the Ministry of Correctional Services.

Ontario has given municipalities the power to deny licence plates to drivers with outstanding fines in part because it wants to make it clear that breaking the rules doesn't pay. That's the message from Ontario Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca.

In the midst of winter and a current snowfall warning from Environment Canada, the West Parry Sound OPP is reminding drivers that it is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act to drive on a closed highway. In a press release dated Jan. 9, OPP state the total payable fine for driving on a closed highway is $110 and upon conviction, three demerit points will be added to your driving record. They also say some insurance companies may not cover you if you are involved in a collision while travelling on a closed highway.
