Leading indicator of international arrivals to Canada, December 2021

December saw the number of international arrivals to Canada increase sharply from the same month in 2020, but remain well below the pre-pandemic levels of December 2019.
Compared with December 2020, more than 10 times as many non-resident travellers arrived from abroad at Canadian airports equipped with electronic kiosks during December 2021. This was less than two-thirds of the number for December 2019, prior to the pandemic.

Registrar Bulletin: TICO to waive registrant fees for third year

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to surge through our community and worldwide, there is an ongoing, significant financial impact to Ontario’s travel agencies and wholesalers.
To assist the industry through this hardship, the Ontario government will provide funding to the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), allowing TICO to waive registrant fees for a third year. This temporary funding arrangement allows TICO to continue its operations in support of consumer protection.
