The fourth busiest land border crossing between Canada and the U.S. will be getting a $50 million modernization to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection plaza on the U.S. side. Plans include construction of a new administration and secondary processing building that will be six times larger, replacement of the six existing car lanes with nine new lanes, replacement of the existing truck lanes with six new lanes, and the creation of a dedicated bus processing lane.

Ontario Northland will begin offering bus service along highway 17 for the first time in the Crown corporation's history.
The new route — created after Greyhound cut its service along the Highway 17 corridor by half — will travel between Sudbury and Ottawa three times a week.
There are about a dozen stops along the route.

Ontario is investing in northern highway infrastructure on Manitoulin Island to make travel easier and safer.
Work will begin this spring to resurface 16 kilometres of Highway 540 west of Kagawong, replace culverts at Bond Creek, Burnt Creek, Wittys Creek and Ice Lake, rehabilitate the Kagawong Creek culvert, and replace the Kagawong Creek Tributary bridge. Portable traffic signals will regulate temporary lane closures on structures during construction.

Metrolinx is pushing forward with plans to boost GO train service to and from Barrie with a new bridge that is receiving resistance from some residents of Toronto. In order to provide more service along the Barrie line, the provincial transit agency says it needs to build a 1.5-kilometre segment of elevated tracks in the Davenport Road area to bypass a freight line running parallel to Dupont Street.

Ontario's Ministry of Transportation hopes to have two lanes of a failed bridge on a northern section of the Trans-Canada Highway open to traffic by the end of February.
However, engineers still don't know what caused the steel decking on the newly-built Nipigon River Bridge to lift about 60 centimetres recently, forcing a 24-hour shutdown that severed the Trans-Canada Highway link between the east and west.
