A woman whose legs were crushed when a double-decker bus crashed into Westboro Station last month is suing two levels of government for not requiring seat belts on public transit.
Gwen Lambert is the co-plaintiff in a $6.375 million lawsuit filed against the City of Ottawa, Province of Ontario, OC Transpo and the bus driver, Aissatou Diallo.
The allegations haven’t been tested in court.

The bus lines are competing with airlines in important corridors like D.C. to New York and Los Angeles to San Francisco. The largest carrier, Vonlane in Texas, refers to its service as "a private jet on wheels."

While a last-minute amendment might have softened the blow, a hike to the fees paid by tour bus operators to park in the town will likely have an impact to tourist numbers, according to the chamber of commerce and local operators.
Town council was scheduled to approve a 180 per cent increase to the bus permit fees charged to tour bus operators from $25 to $70.

Under construction since January 2017, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is returning to full operations. Delay after delay extended renovation on the 88-year-old concrete ceiling, totalling more than $21 million in costs.
The tunnel returned to regular service Feb. 3.
"The tunnel continues to be proud to serve the cross-border needs of the Greater Windsor and Detroit area," said tunnel president Neal Belitsky. "Everything we've done has been geared towards extending the life of the tunnel."
