New mandatory training requirements for semi drivers in Saskatchewan do nothing to ensure drivers from other parts of North America have training that meets local standards, says one rural councillor.
Shawn Blandin, a councillor in the rural municipality of Lake Lenore, wants Saskatchewan Government Insurance to make out-of-province drivers show proof of their training credentials if they are driving in the province.

The provincial government announced that a joint federal-provincial-municipal infrastructure program will proceed, spending $30 billion over the next 10 years on roads, bridges, transit and other major projects.
The program is the second phase of an earlier federal-provincial program, and was signed by the provincial Liberals about a year ago.

Seatbelts with shoulder harnesses should be mandatory on all school buses, an opposition member of Ontario's provincial parliament told Canadian Underwriter. "We should have the use of three-point seat belts on school buses to prevent injury and even death," New Democratic Party MPP Bhutila Karpoche said in an interview. "This should have been done a long time ago."

The Canada Border Services Agency is reminding NEXUS-holding motorists that the Whirlpool Bridge will be closed from April 1 to May 5 to complete a demolition project on the United States side.
During the closure, Canada-bound NEXUS members may use the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge in Niagara-on-the-Lake and/or the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. Both ports of entry will offer enhanced NEXUS services during this period.
