School bus drivers at First Student Canada in Southwestern Ontario ratified a new collective agreement that increases earning and better reflects the scope of the important work that they perform.
The union representing members of the bargaining units from Owen Sound/Wiarton and Port Elgin/Kincardine says that the gains in this collective agreement go a long way towards ensuring that school bus drivers have decent work, but more needs to be done across the province.

Via, a startup with ties to Mercedes-Benz, is replacing bus service in the town of Arlington, reports CBS. Under a new arrangement with Arlington, Via will deploy 10 of its vans, primarily in the city's downtown area.

The federal government has announced close to $12 billion dollars in infrastructure funding for projects across Ontario — setting the stage for a possible injection of long-awaited federal cash into London's landmark bus rapid transit project.
Federal infrastructure minister Amarjeet Sohi recently said Ontario is getting $11.8 billion for public works projects provincewide over the next 10 years. The biggest chunk – $8.3 billion, close to three quarters of those dollars — is destined for public transit.

It was recently announced by the province that Haweater Weekend, Manitoulin Country Fest, and Manitoulin's newest festival, Rockin' the Rock, will all be receiving funds from Celebrate Ontario. Haweater Weekend will be receiving $22,650; Country Fest, $70,212; and Rockin' the Rock, $25,000.

Michael Gravelle, MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North, on behalf of Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Infrastructure, was recently in Dorion Township to announce investments for upgrades to the Ouimet Canyon Road Bridge over Coldwater Creek. The existing load-restricted bridge will be replaced by a modern structure, which will enable access to the area's natural attractions for heavy emergency response vehicles, maintenance vehicles, school buses and visitors. Improved access will help increase road safety and create a better quality of life and more economic opportunities for local families and businesses.
