A number of you have contacted OMCA regarding media reports this week, on the fact that the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) instituted a ban on U.S.-bound trips because of the uncertainty surrounding the Trump administration's policies regarding entry into the U.S. To clairify, the TDSB policy states that for the moment, the 24 existing trips will go ahead as booked; however, if even one student with proper documentation is denied entry, the entire trip will be cancelled and the whole group will return to Toronto.

Toronto students and staff will not be booking any more trips south of the border.
The Toronto District School Board announced the decision in a statement posted to their website recently.
"We do not make this decision lightly, but given the uncertainty of these new travel restrictions and when they may come into effect, if at all, we strongly believe that our students should not be placed into these situations of potentially being turned away at the border," the TDSB said.

The TTC is contemplating a future when autonomous vehicles could replace its existing bus fleet.

Signs of a "Trump slump" in tourism traffic to the U.S. haven't appeared yet at the Blue Water Bridge, according to the Crown corporation operating the Canadian half of the international crossing near Sarnia.
The number of cars crossing the bridge from Canada into the U.S. was up by nearly 1,900 in the first two months of 2017, compared to the January and February total in 2016.
"We're monitoring the situation and so far it's too early for us to determine a trend," said Andre Girard, spokesperson for the Ottawa-based Federal Bridge Corporation.
