COVID-19: Ontario budget proposes new select tourism, hospitality grants and programs

As part of the 2021 Ontario budget, the government is introducing a few new, targeted incentives aimed at providing support to the province’s hospitality and tourism sectors in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The most notable new program is the Ontario tourism and hospitality small business support grant. The $100-million program will provide one-time payments between $10,000 and $20,000 to hospitality-related businesses that don’t qualify for the Ontario small business support grant.

A new survey by the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses released today on Parliament Hill, revealed that 60% of Canada’s hardest hit businesses will not survive if the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) as well as the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) are not extended beyond the June 5 deadline to the end of the year.
Based on those results, the Coalition is formally appealing to the Federal Government to extend the CEWS and CERS supports to the end of the year in the April budget.

Budget 2021 will come on April 19 as Canada races against variant spread: Freeland

The federal government will table its first budget in more than two years on April 19, 2021.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced the hotly anticipated date for Budget 2021 in question period on Tuesday in keeping with tradition on how budget dates are normally revealed.
