Travellers returning to Canada from abroad are facing a new order requiring them to self-isolate, the latest measure from a government trying to deal with both a rise in COVID-19 cases and the growing economic fallout.
The measure, which makes some exceptions for health-care workers and truckers, allows for fines and even jail times for people who ignore the order to stay home.

In an unprecedented move, several Niagara hotels — business has been decimated due to the coronavirus — are offering rooms to health-care workers who want to isolate themselves as the battle to curb the global pandemic continues.
"Health-care workers who may, through their job, be exposed to COVID-19, don't want to go back to their families and risk infection," said Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati, who has reached out to the hotel industry.

In a video message posted to Twitter recently, federal Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said parking lots in national parks and at national heritage sites across the country will be shut and access to all areas curtailed indefinitely.
