April 19th, 10:00-2:00: OMCA Co-Hosts Event on Ending Human Trafficking through Local Partnerships
Join us on April 19th for this very important session! This training event is ideal for coach operators, safety managers, supervisors, and directors. A half-day summit hosted by the Ontario Office of the Attorney General, the TAT Canada Committee, the Ontario Motor Coach Association, and Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT). The event brings together key trucking, truck stop, bus, and energy industry stakeholders, with local, provincial, and federal law enforcement and government agencies to work together to close loopholes to traffickers. The training will feature a Human Trafficking 101 presentation by the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, information on training resources for trucking, truck stop, bus (charter, transit and school), energy companies, a presentation by a survivor-leader/field trainer and a law enforcement panel. The law enforcement panel will delve deeper into trends officers are seeing locally, share case studies, discuss victim-centred approaches and offer recommendations for industry partners wanting to get involved. There will be time at the end of the meeting for Q&A and discussion. This is a closed meeting. If you would like to attend, please register now.

Waiving Crown resource fees is good news say northern Ontario tourism groups
BayToday.ca
A decision by the Ontario Government to waive 2022 fees for hard-hit resource-based tourism operators is being applauded by groups representing the tourism industry. Nature and Outdoor Tourism Ontario (NOTO) and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) say there are over 1,000 seasonal lodges, resorts and campgrounds across northern Ontario that are struggling to survive the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
