COVID-19 cases down across the Americas, but Canadian numbers trending up

COVID-19 cases and deaths are declining in the Americas, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) said on Wednesday, with infections last week dropping 2.3 per cent and deaths falling 15.2 per cent from the prior week — but in Canada, the number of people in hospital due to the virus is on the rise.

The Ottawa VIP Program offers tour operators $50 per room night at a qualifying hotel, when accompanied by a paid admission to an eligible attraction. There are no minimum room night requirements. Hotels and attractions must be paid by the tour operator and proof of payment is required for the funding. Travel must be completed by October 15, 2022.

Bus operators will have access to more than $4 million to help off-set costs for retrofitting Ontario school buses with the Eight Lamp Amber-Red Warning System. “I am very happy that Ontario has actioned my private members’ bill, the Safer School Buses Act, and is providing operators with funding for this important safety feature that will help prevent tragic accidents that too often involve our school-aged children,” said Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Mike Harris.

'Treacherous' potholes wreaking havoc on northern Ontario roads

CAA this week wrapped up its "worst roads" campaign in Ontario, which had a 16 per cent increase in participation compared to previous years.
