This year's Ontario Transportation Expo (OTE) Conference and Trade Show was well attended,
with delegates and exhibitors hailing from all across North America, and reaching as
far as Europe.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Kathryn McGarry, Ontario Minister of Transportation; His Worship John Tory, Mayor of the City of Toronto; and Councillor Josh Colle, Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission, recentlyannounced the purchase of 1,043 new buses and the revitalization of 695 current buses as part of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Bus Purchase and Bus Rebuild project.

Mayor John Tory got a firsthand look at three different types of "all-electric eBuses" recently as part of TTC plans to green its fleet.
The fully electric buses, which have zero emissions and no diesel components, are manufactured by three companies, BYD, New Flyer and Proterra. The TTC is expecting to get 30 in all, 10 from each manufacturer, for a total cost of $50 million by March 2019. The federal and provincial governments are contributing funds.

Aside from their green-and-white livery, the three buses sitting at the TTC's Hillcrest Yard recently didn’t look much different than the rest of the commission's fleet. But the vehicles could represent the start of a green revolution for the country's largest transit agency.
The trio are so-called "battery electric" buses, which are powered solely by lithium-ion batteries. The TTC is planning to buy 30 of the vehicles this year, marking its first ever purchase of the technology.

Ontario is helping communities create jobs and boost economic growth by supporting projects that will revitalize, expand and increase accessibility in the province's Northern tourism sector.

The Quebec government and Eeyou Istchee Tourism are investing more than $400,000 to improve support for local tourism entrepreneurs and increase services and activities for visitors in the James Bay region.
The announcement was made Monday in Oujé-Bougoumou, Que., by Robin McGinley, executive director of Eeyou Istchee Tourism and Jean Boucher, MP for the region of Ungava.
"It's important to continue to invest in tourism, because it's really in its infancy," said McGinley.

The mayor of Windsor, ON, is warning that a thickening of the Canada-U.S. border is probably inevitable when marijuana becomes legal this summer, and his city is bracing for longer waits and even potential trade impacts.
Testifying recently before the Senate committee that is currently studying the bill to legalize the drug, Mayor Drew Dilkens said his city, in particular, has a lot to lose if processing times at the border start to increase.
