Ontario is proposing to eliminate an enhanced driver's licence that allows people to enter the United States at land and water border crossings without a passport.
The driver's licence option was introduced in 2009, when the U.S. required passports or other secure identification for anyone crossing into the country by land or sea, but it hasn't had the anticipated uptake.

Three stretches of the 400 series of highways have been chosen for pilot projects to test out 110 km/h maximum speed limits.
Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek announced that Hwy. 402 between London and Sarnia, the QEW between St. Catharines and Hamilton, and Hwy. 417 from Ottawa/Gloucester to the Ontario/Quebec border will post the higher speed limits starting in mid-September.

Staying in a hotel in Waterloo region will get a little more expensive with the introduction of a four per cent tax.
Starting July 1, 2019 local hotels will implement the municipal accommodation tax (MAT), a tax that is forecast to raise $3.3 million a year to fund tourism marketing to the region in Ontario and beyond.

Smile, speeders. Despite research showing that photo radar slows drivers down, speed cameras aren’t coming to Ontario highways.
“The province will not bring back photo radar on provincial highways,” Bob Nichols, Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) spokesman, said in an email. “Photo radar on provincial highways would be nothing more than a cash grab.”

The Canadian government is investing $345 million in funding for three road projects on Montreal's North Shore.
Minister of Infrastructure and Communities François-Philippe Champagne announced Monday that the federal government will provide more than $260.4 million to extend Highway 19 to the North Shore.
This extension will connect east-west highways 440, in the centre of Laval, and 640, in Bois-des-Filion.

A 2013 survey by Carlson Wagonlit Travel said it all when it comes to measuring the toll that travel takes on today’s road warriors. CWT found that travellers can experience stress for as much as "6.9 hours per trip." Sadly, the intervening years have not been kind to business travellers, either. A global study released in March by IHG reported that business travellers lose some 58 minutes of sleep per night while away. While many of the factors that contribute to this particularly insidious strain of stress cannot be helped, there are a few tricks and tips one can apply to one’s travels and daily navigations that can make anyone’s journey through life a little more bearable.
