News of the shortfall started breaking in recent days, leaving many organizations scrambling to find alternative funding — in some of the cases, for events that are only weeks away, or have even already happened. What has become evident is a large chunk Celebrate Ontario's funding has disappeared, and fewer organizations are being funded in 2019 compared to last year.

The Record
Construction on Highway 401 is a never-ending story, or so it seems, in Cambridge. The construction taking place between Highway 8 and Hespeler Road has been ongoing since June 2015 and is slated to be completed, at a cost of $112.8 million, sometime this fall. The four-year project has seen the highway widened to five lanes in each direction, while maintaining traffic in three lanes throughout the construction.

Chinese manufacturer Yutong Bus has dispatched four electric self-driving buses in an open-road trial project on "Intelligent Island" in the city's Longzi Lake. The buses, called Xiaoyu, are at Level 4 on the autonomous scale, which means they can drive themselves without any human intervention under certain conditions.
