Deadline is Today: Tourism Industry Association of Canada's Tourism Growth Strategy — Priorities for Canadian Businesses

In its recent Budget, the Federal Government stated that “to continue supporting Canada’s tourism sector, the Minister of Tourism will work with the tourism industry, provincial and territorial counterparts, and Indigenous tourism operators to develop a new post-pandemic Federal Tourism Growth Strategy, which will plot a course for growth, investment, and stability.”
As you know, the Government has initiated national consultations, and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) will be actively participating in these consultations, including drafting a detailed submission that reflects the tourism industry’s priorities for moving towards growth, investment, and stability. To assist TIAC in this regard, we you to complete the following survey:

Plans for geoLAGON were announced on Tuesday by local developer Louis Massicotte, who will turn the small town into a 120,000 sq ft tourism destination, drawing heavy inspiration from Iceland’s Blue Lagoon, one of the 25 wonders of the world.

Canada temporarily suspending random testing

The Canadian government has announced that it will ‘temporarily suspend’ random testing at all airports between June 11 and June 30, 2020.
The announcement was made by Transport Minister, Omar Alghabra; Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Duclos; Minister of Public Safety, Marco Mendicino; and Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, Randy Boissonnault.

Record gas prices making travel and tourism 'very unaffordable' in Ontario, experts warn

As gas prices reach record highs, those who work in tourism and hospitality say it will force people to make difficult decisions on where they travel this summer.
The average price of gas in the GTA, and in most of southern Ontario, is expected to reach a new record this weekend. According to the Canadians for Affordable Energy, a group that monitors the cost of fuel for consumers, gas prices were to hit 212.9 cents per litre on Friday. On Saturday, they're expected to reach 215.9 cents per litre, the group says.

Tourism minister says travel delays could be resolved in a 'matter of weeks'

Canada’s Tourism Minister Randy Boissonnault says the federal government is focused on resolving the long delays travellers are experiencing at major airports in a “matter of weeks.”
Speaking to CTV’s Question Period, Boissonnault said he’s not pleased with the reports of Canadians waiting hours to get through regular travel checkpoints, specifically at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Interest in ecotourism spiking in Sault Ste. Marie
