OMCA President's Update: June 18
OMCA
OMCA continues to work in collaboration with advocacy partners like TIAC and TIAO to push for extended government relief programs and liquidity programs that work for our members and for a concrete date and plan to reopen the border. OMCA is pushing the findings from the Federal Governments' own Expert Panel and we are asking for a plan to reopen the border. This plan must have details on the various types of travelers (vaccinated and non) plus those that are traveling with children who might be ineligible for vaccinations. We know that a detailed strategy will be vital for many of you and that you need time to plan. The health and safety of Canadians continues to be of the utmost importance and is a shared commitment with our industry and our members. The continuing increase in vaccination rates is helping, consumers are feeling more confident, and we are hearing that our members are starting to get more inquiries for the late summer and fall bookings. If you haven't already done so, visit www.openuscanborder.ca site, act and encourage your peers to do the same. Please remember to follow our social media channels and help us spread the word on what our industry needs from government. Thank you, Vince Accardi.

Follow OMCA on Twitter!
OMCA
We have increased our activity on Twitter drastically in recent months — and for good reason. Twitter is a social platform that is actively used by members of parliament and is a valuable tool to further the conversations we, as an industry, initiate with government. For example, our recently launched letter writing campaign to extend the CEWS and CERS programs used social media posts that tagged the appropriate MPs to get additional attention to the over 100 letters sent by OMCA members! While our efforts in this area have improved, we need your help to really get the attention that the motor coach industry deserves. The more times our posts are shared, the more eyes and minds are focused on our industry and the more people there are to share it even further. Click now to Follow Us On Twitter and be sure to click the notification bell so that you don’t miss a single opportunity to connect the public and all levels of government on our industry’s value and what we need to succeed.

Travel Industry Today
The head of G Adventures is urging travel counsellors and people in the trade to stop using the term “vaccine passport.” Bruce Poon Tip says the generic term for a document that shows official two-dose status of having received the COVID-19 vaccine is simply a political term that does a disservice to promoting travel at time when many people need encouragement to do so.
