Provincial representatives were on-hand recently to officially open Durham Region Transit's new Raleigh Bus Maintenance and Storage Facility. The state-of-the-art, 5,770-square-metre maintenance facility replaces the original maintenance area built in 1964 and has space to maintain and service 85 buses, states a release issued by the province.

Canada's Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) has announced the completion of phase one of the new Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) integrated Traffic and Commercial Building for border operations at the Thousand Islands Bridge in Lansdowne, ON, east of Kingston. Throughout the summer, over a dozen sites along Highway 20 between Montreal and Quebec City are being taken over by contemporary artists. It's called Truck Stop, and it's one of Canada's most unique public art projects.

A property deal that will see governments on both sides of the border pay $48.4 million to the City of Detroit clears a major hurdle to construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
The deal announced includes property acquisition, job training and even environmental monitoring. It still requires final approval from Detroit's city council.
It is the culmination of months of tense negotiations between Detroit, the neighbourhood and bridge authority officials over city lands in the community of Delray — an industrial area in southwest Detroit where the Howe bridge will be located.

Montreal is preparing to receive a large influx of tourists this summer, in part due to the 375th anniversary celebrations.
Already, the Formula One Grand Prix brought in a huge number of tourists, although the data has not yet been compiled. Occupancy rate at downtown hotels reached almost 90 per cent.
Tourism growth for the city in 2017 is expected to be between 5.3 and 5.5 per cent based on last year's data. For Canada as a whole, growth will be about 3.7 per cent.
