The Government of Ontario is protecting what matters most by implementing a five-year plan that will bring stability to driver, vehicle and commercial fee increases over the next five years.
Key driver, vehicle and commercial fees will not increase until July 1, 2020. This is the third round of driver and vehicle fee increases that have been cancelled by the government.

After complaints from commuters, Metrolinx has decided to extend a GO bus route between Caledon and Brampton for an additional six months.
Starting on July 2, the 38 (Bolton/Malton/North York) GO bus will continue as a temporary service until January 2020. Customers will still be able to go from Caledon and Brampton to the Malton GO station, where they can pick up the Toronto-bound Kitchener line.

Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster says he told the province to lower his agency’s annual subsidy $149 million next year, saying he can fill the gap by growing ridership, but also by cancelling select bus routes, and getting tougher on fare dodgers.
The reduction, first revealed by transit blogger Steve Munro, shows that the provincial transfer Metrolinx will receive in 2020 will fall by 32 per cent this year.

Build Your Dreams has announced it will open first Canadian electric bus assembly plant in Newmarket.
The company has expanded its North American operations with a 45,000-square-foot facility in Newmarket on Harry Walker Parkway that is the first new electric bus plant to open in Ontario in a generation. At first, the facility is only expected to employ a handful of local people but a spokesperson pointed out that number has the potential to grow into hundreds as other BYD facilities have done.

The project was launched recently by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the governments of Canada and the Netherlands as well as several industry partners, including border authorities, airports, technology providers and airlines.

The Quebec government recently announced that a tunnel will be built to link Quebec City and Lévis.
The infrastructure will not serve neighbouring Île d’Orléans, but the government said in a statement that work will continue on a new cable-stayed bridge for the area. The tunnel emerged as the best option following the results of various studies, including a multi-criteria analysis which looked at several factors like transport, traffic, the environment and the economy.
