Back in March, an MTO modernization survey was distributed to gauge stakeholder input regarding online options to shift away from in-person services to the online delivery channel. The results of this survey are now in and, according to the report below, we can expect to see a launch of services this fall. OMCA will continue to keep you updated.
- 98% surveyed were prepared to register and wait for a PIN to access an online account;
- 1.7% do NOT feel comfortable using an online channel to conduct CVOR/MVIS transactions;
- 12% expect a rebate for using the online channel;
- 100% use the Internet for business transactions at least once a week;
- Over 95% of mvis and cvor clients would renew online;
- Over 85% of mvis clients are neutral or support mandatory online ordering of stock items
Full launch of online services has been delayed but still in the pilot phase until this fall.

It was billed as the biggest and best birthday bash of them all in the nation's capital, but many tourists and locals found the events of Canada Day 150 too disorganized to enjoy. Long security lineups that moved at a snail's pace, overcrowded and delayed buses, and a general sense of confusion disappointed many who had come from afar to attend the festivities.
Now that it's over, Ottawa's hospitality industry is talking about lessons learned.

An increase in the number of overseas tourists drawn to Canada in its sesquicentennial year isn't expected to trickle down to Southwestern Ontario.
Instead, local tourism organizations say they will continue to focus on their bread-and-butter clientele — Americans who live close to the Great Lakes.
Statistics Canada reports the number of tourists from China is increasing. China sends the second-highest number of visitors annually to the country after the United Kingdom.

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel reopened its doors recently in Montreal after spending the last year morphing into the city's newest business destination.
Owner Ivanhoé Cambridge worked closely with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Sid Lee Architecture and general contractor Pomerleau to modernize areas and add 35,000 square feet of convention space. Capacity is the second largest in Montreal after the Palais des congrès. Most areas are now accessible, including about 500 rooms, various common areas and Suite 1742 (site of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's iconic Bed-In for Peace), as well as the spa. Many new features will be unveiled in the weeks to come, but some restaurants are already open.
