Ontario Northland in North Bay has been awarded a contract from CANARAIL to refurbish Rocky Mountaineer luxury passenger rail cars.
The work will result in approximately 50 new jobs in the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre (RRC) in the immediate term and up to 80 new positions over the course of the four-year contract. The contract will also provide a significant economic boost to North Bay and surrounding areas.

Since Premier Kathleen Wynne announced nearly three months ago Brantford would have GO Transit service starting in September, officials have been busy with behind-the-scenes preparations.
At a committee of the whole meeting in late June, members of Brantford council gave public works commission general manager Beth Goodger authorization to execute any cost recovery agreements with Metrolinx (GO Transit's provincial parent agency) required to get the planned bus service up and running.

Ontario is improving highway travel in the Northeast with the addition of a new, four-lane section of Highway 69.
11 kilometres of four-lane highway will soon be fully open to traffic on Highway 69, from north of Highway 64 to north of Highway 607 near the Municipality of French River. The province has invested $61.3 million to complete the project through the Northern Highways Program.

Metrolinx is working to resolve a dispute with Bombardier over delivery delays of light-rail vehicles needed for two key Toronto transit lines under construction: Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West. In a statement emailed to CBC News, Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins said the provincial agency that oversees regional transit planning for the Greater Toronto Area "has been concerned about Bombardier's performance for some time as there have been significant quality and manufacturing issues that to-date have not been resolved."

223 new parking spaces recently opened at the Mount Pleasant GO Station bringing the total number of parking spaces to 1,487. In addition to the new parking spaces, a new kiss & ride, bike shelter and heated customer shelter have been added.

Travel Week
Despite recent terror attacks in Europe and around the world, travellers have not been deterred from packing their bags and venturing out, says the UNWTO.
According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, 2016 started on a strong note for international tourism, with tourist arrivals growing by five per cent between January and April. Results were "robust" across almost all sub-regions and many destinations reported double-digit growth.
