Greyhound has been lobbying the federal government to set up a fund to subsidize the bus service on routes it is planning to cancel in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia.

You likely have one: a friend or follower on social media who has declared they won’t visit the United States on their summer vacation this year as a way to punish U.S. President Donald Trump for his anti-Canada trade policies.
“Let’s boycott the U.S. this summer and deny Trump the benefit of our tourism dollars,” they might say in a post on Facebook or in a tweet. So is this unofficial embargo working?

People booking a hotel room in Windsor will have to pay a four per cent tax starting October of this year, after city council approved a Municipal Accommodation Tax.
The purpose of the tax is to generate funds to support the growth of tourism in the Windsor-Essex area, with an estimated $2.8 million in revenue a year. Half will go toward the annual budget of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI).

The city of Ottawa is advising motorist that it will be closing a section of Highway 417 in both directions from Saturday evening to Sunday morning to facilitate the demolition of the Harmer Avenue pedestrian bridge. The city says that the closures will begin at 5 p.m. July 28 and will continue until 11 a.m. Sunday.
