It is with sadness that we pass along the news that Roger Fiola, one of our past, long-time OMCA members, has passed away.
Besides Roger's family, his life was as well defined by his many friends too numerous to name but who likewise are feeling this deep knowingness of loss. Anyone who knew him knew what a little rascal he could be and how he had many passions: racing cars, making people laugh, the great urge to always lend a hand, watching sports, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, quading and music to name a few but let's be honest, socializing with friends was his fave! An informal wake was held at Ste. Anne Hotel on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016.

Service was suspended along a six-station stretch of Line 1 for about 90 minutes recently, but a decision that was quietly made by the TTC more than a year ago meant that there were no shuttle buses ordered.
Though the TTC often brings in shuttle buses to transport stranded riders during extended service disruptions such as the one that occurred recently, it turns out that a new policy was put in place about 18 months ago to not dispatch shuttle buses when the interruption occurs in the downtown core and is not expected to last for more than two hours.

Hamilton city councillors are resurrecting calls for cash to support a long-planned web of rapid transit corridors to compliment and feed LRT.
Just where that cash will come from remains uncertain, however.
The city's master transportation plan in 2007 envisioned a so-called BLAST network to connect the lower city east-to-west, link the airport to the harbour north to south, send express buses whizzing to Waterdown and across the Mountain.

When the Ontario Good Roads Association met in 1999 for its annual convention, the downloading of provincial highways to local municipalities was surely a major topic of discussion.
The construction of the provincial highway network, with high standards of construction and consistent maintenance, occupied the energies of a generation of activists. The loss of much of the network could result in a patchwork system, as well as great additional burdens on property taxes.
