Marketplace 2022: MyOMCA Event Portal Opens August 30th

Tourism and charter bookings are showing signs of life as the economy opens and consumers are gaining the confidence needed to secure trips. International travel continues to be challenging with ArriveCan requirements, random testing, and continued restrictions in place for those who are not vaccinated. Nevertheless, around 80 per cent of tourism spending is from domestic demand, with some provinces like Ontario, BC and PEI having close to 40 per cent of pre-pandemic tourism spending coming from international visitations.

Roger Dow, the outgoing CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, is launching a venture that addresses the nation's hospitality workforce crunch.
Called Future Work Solutions (FWS), the company will connect vetted and pre-qualified workers with hotels and convention centers that need them to supplement their existing staff.

International tourism on major rebound, says UNWTO

International tourism got a big boost in the first five months of 2022, says UNWTO, with almost 250 million international arrivals on the books.
According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, this compares to 77 million arrivals from January to May 2021, which means that the sector has recovered nearly half (46%) of pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
