Despite a busy forest fire season, Tourism Northern Ontario is reminding visitors that it is business as usual for tourism operators in Northern Ontario.
Although the affected areas in Northeastern Ontario only make up for one per cent of the region’s geography, tourism operators have noted challenges as a result of the perceived danger of the fires. Two large fires which started early this season have been sensationalized in local and provincial news outlets, creating an unclear picture for potential travellers.

Keolis Canada and the City of Candiac, with the manufacturer NAVYA, financial support from the Québec Government, the collaboration of Propulsion Québec, the Cluster for Electric and Smart Transportation and the Technopôle IVÉO are pleased to officially announce the first long-term demonstration project of a 100 per cent electric autonomous shuttle on public roads in Canada. The NAVYA Autonom Shuttle will operate in mixed traffic, this is a first step towards integrating autonomous shuttles into shared transportation solutions, in addition to complement the existing transport offer.

After losing its licence in Quebec, Sinorama Holidays travel agency has ended its operations in Ontario.
The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) says Sinorama was placed under trusteeship on July 24 after an $11 million shortfall and voluntarily ceased its activities in Ontario on August 8, terminating its Ontario Travel Industry Act, 2002 registration.
The Markham-based travel agency, which was well known, specialized in small group tours to China.
