Update from the OMCA President
OMCA
We are a just over a week away from the Federal Election and it’s anyone’s guess which way the results will swing. The association has been actively advocating and educating vote-hungry candidates and has launched our member based, summer grassroots campaign. If you haven’t connected with your local candidates, I ask that you do so. Our key asks are 1. Support for a tailored wage and fixed cost support program for hard hit business, 2. Support specific economic relief for motor coach transportation service providers and 3. Support the redevelopment of a national coast-to-coast motor coach network.
Collectively, we need to ensure that the motor coach industry and our beloved tourism sector doesn’t slip between the cracks. We need you to reach out to your ridings candidates today to ensure that our industry’s needs do not go unnoticed. The association has prepared and posted a suite of tools to help you connect, I encourage you to use them today. Please remember to tell me about your candidate meetings and CC me on your letters. Last week, Ontario announced that they are reinstating the renewal of licence plate stickers. The association had been aggressively advocating for MTO to wave the retroactive collection of Licence plate fees for parked vehicles that have not made revenue during this period and our voices were heard. If you did not operate your commercial vehicle(s) after your expiry date and during the licence plate extension period, you may apply for a fee exemption. Thank you to all of our members, it’s your support that fuels our advocacy work.

Do your part to ensure our next federal leader has your industry's best interest in mind
OMCA
OMCA and MCC have put together a campaign that highlights the need for continued wage and rent support until recovery is actually possible, economic relief specific to the motor coach industry, and the redevelopment of a national motor coach network. We need our members to back up our asks by pushing their local election candidates to support these initiatives and save our industry from collapsing. Use the letter template and tools on our website to get started and help make our collective voice even louder! Don’t forget to keep OMCA in the loop when you send your letter and secure your meetings. We are in this together!
