Workers at two more downtown hotels have ratified a new contract, bringing the number of hotels affected by the labor strike down to 17.
Unite Here Local 1 — which represents the roughly 6,000 housekeepers, servers, cooks and doormen who hit the picket line outside 26 upscale Chicago hotels on Sept. 7 — announced the agreement with Hotel Allegro and Hotel Palomar on Saturday afternoon.

The federal government has rejected Manitoba’s request for Ottawa to pay Greyhound to keep operating in Western Canada for a few more months.
Greyhound announced in early July that it will end bus service between British Columbia and northern Ontario on Oct. 31, except for the Vancouver-Seattle route.

The mayor of a small town in northwestern Ontario says it's not right that cross-country bus passengers will be left stranded, with no warm place to stay, when Greyhound ends its service October 31. Angelo Bazzoni, the mayor of White River, ON, said passengers will have to find somewhere to go when they make a layover of up to 14 hours in his community. 800 people live in White River.

During their travels in the past few years, 81 per cent of millennials volunteered in the destinations they visited, 78 per cent donated cash, and 83 per cent gave in-kind to help with local development, according to those polled in a study from Tourism Cares. In fact, a benchmark study on happiness released by the Stanford Business School in 2010 indicated that having a higher purpose always boosts the happiness quotient.
