The nominations deadline for the 2016 OMCA Industry Awards is 4 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 30. The awards will be presented at the OMCA Marketplace on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016. There are nine categories, including Driver Excellence, Supplier Member Award of Distinction, Lifetime Achievement and the Volunteer Award of Distinction.

Nearly a month into the school year, Dubé said his office continues to receive complaints from children and parents in Toronto scrambling over no-show buses.

London will be the site of five Ontario Cup Basketball Championships to be held in 2017 and 2018. London will hold four age-group championships in both years. The age groups are U10 and U11 girls and U10 and U14 boys. The tournaments will be held in late March and early April.

Hamilton transit planners are considering extending the existing Dundas Local bus to a proposed transit terminal at Cootes Drive and Main Street West.
While there would be no parking available at the proposed McMaster LRT terminal, the Dundas Local bus route — which currently connects the Watson's Lane area to Pleasant Valley — could provide a direct link to the LRT system, via South Street, Osler Drive and Main Street West. The proposed terminal might also include GO bus links.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli recently re-introduced his Private Member's Bill, The Safe Texting Zones Act in the Ontario Legislature to combat distracted driving through the creation of designated highway "texting zones."
"Texting while driving poses a major risk for drivers and those they share the road with," said Fedeli. "In fact, distracted driving deaths in Ontario have surpassed those of impaired driving for the seventh consecutive year."
