As the next phase of the Gardiner Rehabilitation work begins, at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 4 until Spring 2020, the F.G. Gardiner Expressway westbound Sherbourne/Jarvis off-ramp will be fully closed for replacement. Crews will work mostly around-the-clock on a 24/7 basis to accelerate and reduce the length of construction. During construction, drivers should consider alternate routes such as the westbound Gardiner Expressway Yonge-Bay-York off-ramp or the southbound Don Valley Parkway to the Richmond Street exit.

In January 2016, a bridge over the Nipigon River failed. Located roughly 100 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, it forms part of the Trans-Canada Highway — when it was closed after bolts snapped, causing decking to rise 60 centimetres, the highway’s east-west link was severed. "This is the one place in Canada where there is only one road, one bridge across the country," said Nipigon mayor Richard Harvey.

Travelers who take a bus tour might not think to do something they'd do automatically if they were getting into their own cars: buckle up.
At least four people were killed when a tour bus carrying 30 passengers crashed recently near Utah's Bryce Canyon National Park. Authorities haven't yet said whether the the bus was equipped with seat belts or if the passengers were using them.

School District 64, which includes Salt Spring, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna and Pender islands, recently commissioned a study on the feasibility of changing their fleet of 12 buses to electric and found the switch would not only reduce carbon emissions, but would also save the district money in the long run.
