OMCA has been notified of a recent change to the City of Toronto's policy regarding disputing
tickets that prohibits us from going to bat for members when they receive tickets. As well, we
received a clarification regarding No-Stopping zones (even if it also says motor coach loading
zone).

Appointment-taking delegates will be able to view their preliminary schedules on Monday, October 16, end of day. Manual scheduling will be available between October 16 and October 20 for additional appointment requests — email notification will go out on Monday with the link to the manual scheduling module.

What looked to be a speedy solution to the problem of school bus "blow-bys" has been slowed to a crawl by red tape.
From May 2014 to the end of October 2015, Safer Roads Ottawa put a camera on one east-end school bus route, to catch drivers illegally passing the bus when it was stopped with lights flashing. The stopping rule applies to drivers coming up behind a school bus, and unless there's a median, to drivers approaching from the other direction as well. The current fine for a first offence is $490.

The federal government paid three tour companies nearly $35,000 to compensate them for losses they incurred as a result of a one-day Three Amigos summit in Ottawa in the summer of 2016, according to public accounts documents released last week by the federal government.
The meeting of North American leaders happened on a Wednesday in the last week of June, and for security reasons, most of the roads were closed in the downtown core from morning to evening.

In a letter addressed to parents of students who take school buses, Student Transportation Service of Waterloo Region general manager Benoit Bourgault said Friday that there are currently only enough full-time drivers to cover 419 of the region’s 426 school bus routes.
