Update from the OMCA President
OMCA
It was welcome news for many association members that the US administration will lift travel restrictions for fully vaccinated visitors at the borders with Canada starting in November. The United States will welcome only visitors who are vaccinated. Unvaccinated visitors will continue to be banned from crossing the borders. Starting in January, those who were never banned from traveling across the land borders, including commercial drivers and students, will also need to show proof of vaccination. The US considers anyone who have received vaccines listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization, such as AstraZeneca fully vaccinated. The C.D.C. is still to announce whether foreigners crossing from Canada with two doses from different vaccines could enter.
This week Canadian Transportation Agency issued a final decision to all transportation industries that requested a temporary exemption from certain provisions of the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations. The CTA dismissed requests from all modes of transportation calling for extensions and concluded that accessible transportation is a fundamental human right for persons with disabilities, and the ATPDR are an important tool for ensuring that this objective is met in the federal transportation network.
After a successful lobby effort, Ontario opened its application portal for the $100 million Ontario Tourism Recovery Program this week. The association is encouraging all eligible members to apply early. Applications will be accepted until November 10, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.
We are three weeks away from our 2D and 3D Marketplace events, if you haven’t registered, please do so today. Our November 3rd 3D (in person) sessions are filling up quickly!

U.S. to open land borders with Canada, Mexico to vaccinated foreign tourists in 'early November'
USA Today
Starting next month, the United States will allow fully vaccinated foreign nationals to cross its land borders for nonessential purposes such as tourism or visiting friends and family.
The change would allow foreign tourists to enter the U.S. through land or ferry ports for the first time since March 2020. Government officials have not yet announced a date for the policy change, but said it would take place in "early November," in tandem with the country's updated international air travel system.

Travel Industry Today
Canadians immunized against COVID-19 with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine can visit the United States when new travel regulations come into play next month, but it’s not yet clear whether those with mixed doses will make the cut.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday travellers will be able to fly to the States if they’ve received shots of vaccines approved or recognized for emergency use by the World Health Organization or the US Food and Drug Administration.
