COVID Safety Video now available!

OMCA is happy to release the final version of the COVID Safety Video that highlights the many measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on a motorcoach. This is just one part of the marketing materials being made available to members to promote consumer confidence. There will also be print material available to distribute to clients and a French version of this video is still in the works. Members can obtain a customized version of this video with their company logo from Radonic+ for a small fee. OMCA sends a big thank you to all tour and coach operators that worked closely with OMCA to develop this video!

The Ontario government unveiled its new plan of proposed measures for the province’s municipalities on Tuesday, in the wake of calls for more fair and targeted shutdowns and/or restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement alongside Ontario Minister of Health Christine Elliott and Chief medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Dr. David Williams at his daily press conference at Queen’s Park.

Government extends international travel restrictions

The challenges posed by COVID-19 are unprecedented and protecting the health and safety of all Canadians remains the Government of Canada’s highest priority.
The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, recently announced the Government has extended the Mandatory Isolation Order and temporary travel restrictions for all non-US travellers, unless their travel is for non-discretionary reasons, to November 30, 2020.

Government of Canada announces new mandatory requirements for travellers to Canada

As part of Canada’s efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all travellers are required to provide specific information upon and after entry into Canada. This includes requirements to provide a quarantine plan and contact and travel information. The Government of Canada introduced ArriveCAN in April 2020 to create a secure and user-friendly way to help travellers comply with these border measures. ArriveCAN is available as a mobile app or by signing in online.

Tourism operators hope Canadian Snowbirds flock to B.C.

Regional and provincial tourism organizations are hoping Canadian Snowbirds will flock to Vancouver Island for the winter in creating a new resource for them.
The partnership between the Columbia Hotel Association (BCHA) and Tourism Vancouver Island (TVI) will create a resource under the title Venture West This Winter that will allow Canadian Snowbirds, here defined as residents who travel to warmer destinations (usually the United States) during colder months, to book accommodations, educate themselves on safety protocols for the communities and plan ahead in helping them to live like locals.
