London is at the forefront of self-driving vehicle technology in Ontario, says the head of the National Research Council's London office.
The NRC has begun a $5 million expansion of its office at the Western Research Park and hired three engineers. About 10 more will join the payroll, all to get driverless car technology on the road, said David Muir, as Premier Kathleen Wynne and others including a group representing auto parts makers, recently gathered to announce the opening of a research network to help fuel the industry in Ontario.

The city of Mississauga is introducing a four per cent hotel tax next summer and says the money will go toward attracting more visitors and boosting tourism.
The tax, approved by city council, is consistent with a four per cent rate also under consideration by the city of Toronto, and could be the first wave in a tax change right across the Greater Toronto Area. If approved, it would come into effect in July 2018.
