Do you support Motor Coach Tourism?
OMCA
Chances are if you subscribe to this newsletter that you or your business benefit in some way from motor coach tourism or group travel. Unfortunately, motor coach companies are at risk of being left out of necessary funding and many will not survive the long winter months without targeted support. While transporting people is considered an essential service, people have not been travelling since the onset of the pandemic and more than 90 percent of motor coaches have been out of operation for 20 months and counting.
Please take 30 seconds of your day to send a letter to your local MP and ask them to ensure that motor coach businesses will be undoubtedly included in the recently announced Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program. Enter your address, name, company and title and simply hit send. Once you have sent your letter, share the link with 5 friends or colleagues that also benefit from the survival of the motor coach industry and ask them to do the same. Together, we can make our voice so loud that it cannot be ignored. If you have already sent a letter and shared this message with your colleagues, thank you! If you haven’t, go to bit.ly/MotorCoachInclusion right now.

Message from the OMCA President
OMCA
The association continues to push the government for clarity around the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program. We are working with officials and partner associations to understand the details around this new program. It is vital that we have a clear understanding if Motor Coach businesses qualify for the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Fund. We are also pushing for clarity around seasonality and when this program will be available to our members. In response to the unclear eligibility requirements the association launched two industry government advocacy campaigns. The first was for all motor coach businesses and the second for supporting partners, both asking the Federal government to ensure that Motor Coach members are eligible under the newly announced Tourism and Hospitality Recovery subsidy program.
If you acted, Thank you. If not please do so now! It only takes 30 seconds to visit our website and type your address and select it from the dropdown menu to find your local MP. Then add your Name, Company, and Title in the remaining fields and click Send Letter at the bottom of the page.
In addition, the association continues to advocate for the removal of the PCR test required for re-entry into Canada for fully vaccinated travellers via all ports of entry. We understand that this is major barrier to travel and recovery for many of our members.
Last week, OMCA hosted our 2D Marketplace, where over 2,050 business meetings took place virtually between destinations, tourism suppliers, and tour operators. This event was followed by an in-person 3D conference in which delegates heard from industry experts on topics related to recovery and opportunities for our industry. Thank you to all of you that joined us virtually or in person.

Travel industry suspects feds will drop PCR COVID test at border
iPolitics
By saying it’s reconsidering the need to show a negative PCR test for COVID-19 at Canadian borders, Ottawa will likely remove the “unfair and unnecessary” requirement, says the Canadian Travel and Tourism Roundtable, a coalition of industry groups.
