This week hosted another OMCA Conference and it turned out great, as usual! Big thanks to our sponsors for making it all possible and another thank you to all the delegates that contributed to its success. Mark your calendars for next year’s conference in Canada’s capital, Nov. 3 - Nov. 6 2019. It will be a special one as OMCA celebrates 90 years of representing this amazing industry. Note that OMCA offices will reopen for business as usual on Monday Nov. 19th at 9am.

A memorandum of understanding was signed this week in Windsor which is designed to help curb the volume of human trafficking occurring across Canada.
The agreement was signed at Caesars Windsor during an meeting between the Ontario Motor Coach Association (OMCA) and Colorado-based advocacy group Busing on the Lookout.

A shortage of school bus drivers in Guelph that left kids waiting for late buses — some for as much as an hour — has improved since the school year began, but there is still a need for more drivers.
“It’s actually a lot better than what it was,” said Wendy Dobson, general manager for Wellington-Dufferin Student Transportation Services, the transportation consortium responsible for busing for schools in Wellington and Dufferin counties.

Tourism Toronto recently announced new executive appointments, aligned with the organization's strategic priorities. Andrew Weir has been named to the new position of Executive Vice President, Destination Development, and Jon Mamela will join Tourism Toronto as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Both appointments take effect on January 1, 2019.

Last year was all about solo travel, and the year before saw millennials make a big push in the travel industry. This year, the spotlight is back on family travel, with new research by GlobalData showing exponential growth among families.
It's not just a passing fad either, says the data and analytics company. The family travel market is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 4.6 per cent, from 300 million trips in 2017 to 376 million in 2022. This represents a whopping 25 per cent increase in just five years.
