Partners collaborating on Indigenous tourism
Northern Ontario Business
The Ontario Motorcoach Association (OMCA) and Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO) are partnering to boost Indigenous tourism throughout Ontario.
On Nov. 14, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that sets out how the two will work together to increase tourism engagement, educate tourism operators, and promote Indigenous tourism experiences across Ontario.

Increase in insolvencies could signal Canadians are struggling with debt loads

Canadian households are feeling economic pressure from many directions and it is manifesting in different ways, one of them being an increase in insolvencies.
Nationally, insolvencies — which include bankruptcies and proposals to renegotiate financial terms — rose 22.5 per cent in September from a year ago, according to federal government figures.

Canadian Armed Forces to train on roadways, highways in central Ontario

The Canadian Armed Forces say driver and convoy operation training will occur on a number of highways and roadways in central Ontario this weekend.
The army says reserve personnel from 31 Service Battalion, Windsor Support Company will conduct driver and convoy operations in Peterborough, Kingston, Trenton, Quinte West and Prince Edward County Friday, Nov. 18 to Sunday, Nov. 20.

North York drivers rank highest for road rage in top 10 Ontario cities

A new study found the top three Ontario cities with the worst road rage are North York, Hamilton and Mississauga at No. 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The study by My Choice car insurance, or mychoice.ca, explored their database of over 250,000 insurance quotes to come up with its rankings and classified the following in determining the most aggressive drivers: speeding, failure to stop, failure to signal, improper lane change, improper passing, following too closely and distracted driving/prohibited use of handheld device.

City of Guelph launches engagement for culture and sports tourism strategy

On September 30, the City of Guelph was announced as a successful recipient of funding through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund.
This funding will help the City develop Create, Play and Stay, a culture and sports tourism strategy to guide the City in attracting new visitors and driving economic growth in culture and sports tourism. The City is engaging with internal and external groups to inform and shape the strategy.
