Hotels, bed and breakfasts, and campgrounds across the province will have to start charging a mandatory tourism levy next year.
It comes after the province passed legislation allowing municipalities to impose mandatory levies.
Paulette Hicks with the Saint John Hotel Association says the city has had a voluntary three per cent levy in place for 10 years that helps pay for the operations of Discover Saint John — the destination marketing organization that’s set up as a not‑for‑profit, public‑private corporation created in partnership with the City of Saint John and the Saint John Hotel Association.

Speaking recently at the EROAD user conference in Portland, Oregon, DeLorenzo dismissed any chance that the agency will delay the Dec. 16 deadline for switching from automatic onboard recording devices to fully compliant ELDs. “It is not going to get extended past December,” he said.

Google is adding new tools to Google Earth on the web that let you build your own tour of a place right on top of the Google Earth map. It could help solve the problem of not being able to communicate just how awesome that walk around Tokyo was by letting you show your friends your journey. The tools let you set landmarks, draw lines from place to place, add text, images, and videos to every point along the way, and present the whole thing, step by step.

How much are you spending on tires? Sharpen a pencil and figure your cost per tire mile, and you may find that a fraction of a cent per mile can add up to a lot of dollars. The difference might be in the tires you buy.
