Update from the OMCA President
OMCA
The Association continues to monitor the government’s response to the new Omicron variant. With a great deal of confusion, Canada has reintroduced border measures. At the same time, the government will now allow Canadians returning from short trips to fill in their Arrive Can App information at the border. However, we encourage all members to ensure this information is provided in advance of crossing. We continue to monitor the governments response to this virus and will continue to advocate for a safe reopening.
Bill C-2, which includes the two wage and rent subsidy programs, is now before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. We are advocating for a quick passing of C2 to get support for our members. I’ve been please to see MPs standing in the House of Commons to highlight the importance of this bill for motor coach and tour businesses. Thank you to everyone who have been able to support our association through your membership renewals and supporting our events. This financial contribution allows our association to support our government advocacy work.
Please connect with us on the Association’s social channels, as we continue to provide timely information and connect with MPs and MPPs.

Advocate: Businesses may soon actively lower revenues to meet Ottawa's subsidy threshold
CTV News
The CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) says the threshold to receive the government’s new wage and rent subsidies is too high and could force some businesses to consider decreasing their revenues to meet the eligibility criteria.
Dan Kelly said he’s lobbying politicians, currently studying the Liberal’s new pandemic aid bill at the finance committee, to lower the bar to access the benefits and make support commensurate to revenue loss.
