On Sunday Dec. 31, 2017 the City of Toronto will be celebrating New Year's Eve on Nathan Phillips Square. This free, public event will start at 8:00 p.m. and includes a variety of musical performances culminating with a spectacular fireworks show at the stroke of midnight.
The fireworks show requires a safety fallout zone to be created around Toronto City Hall.

Ontario has opened two new lanes on Highway 427, including a new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, to help improve traffic flow and get people where they're going sooner.
Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation, Shafiq Qaadri, MPP for Etobicoke North, Peter Milczyn, MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore, and Linda Jeffrey, Mayor of Brampton, made the announcement and opened the HOV lane, which runs southbound from Morningstar Drive to Fasken Drive.

Ontario is improving traffic flow and reducing congestion for families in Durham region, with the next phase of Highway 407 from Harmony Road to Taunton Road in Clarington set to open next month.
Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation, Jeff Leal, MPP for Peterborough, and Granville Anderson, MPP for Durham, were in Clarington to announce that the new section of Highway 407 is on track to open to traffic in early January 2018.

It's time for Barrie councillors to "fish or cut bait" on the reconstruction of the Barrie Transit Terminal, Mayor Jeff Lehman said.
Barrie's general committee reviewed a technical and financial validation report regarding the proposed Maple Avenue marketplace during a recent meeting. The report calls for the city to immediately begin a $100,000 transit hub study to investigate the feasibility of relocating terminal operations to the Allandale GO Transit station, prior to the start of the reconstruction of the Maple site.

But transit agencies doing the buying are moving cautiously, an analysis by Reuters shows. Out of more than 65,000 public buses plying U.S. roads today, just 300 are electric. Among the challenges: EVs are expensive, have limited range and are unproven on a mass scale.
