The Federal Government's Task Force review of the policy issues around the legalization of
cannabis acknowledged the challenges that employers, particularly in the transportation
sector, have around managing employees in safety critical positions in a society where pot
smoking is legal.
Motor Coach Canada (MCC) has joined other transportation sector associations in calling on the government to give employers the tools in terms of drug use
thresholds, ability to conduct testing, etc., to ensure that their drivers are safe when they get
behind the wheel.

The province says the rules, which take effect Jan. 1, will help reduce confusion and prevent surprises for travellers, as well as ensure a level playing field for the travel industry.

Toronto council has endorsed a plan to put tolls on the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway, with all the revenue going toward a $33 billion slate of unfunded transit and infrastructure projects.
The Ontario government will have to approve the decision, however, before the city can take any steps to implement the revenue tool.

Ontario is helping 99 cities and towns across the province enhance and expand their transit systems, to reduce congestion, shorten commute times, and help people get to where they're going faster.
Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation, was joined by MPPs Harinder Malhi and Vic Dhillon in Brampton recently to announce this year's gas tax funding for municipalities. Brampton is receiving over $10 million to support upgrades and enhancements that could include purchasing new transit vehicles, adding more routes, extending hours of service, or improving accessibility.
