Canada reveals how extended family, compassionate travellers can apply for travel exemptions

Details have been released on Canada’s definition of extended family members, requirements for compassionate travellers to get exempt, and how to get limited release from quarantine. As of October 8, extended family members can now cross the border to Canada, provided they are staying for at least 15 days and meet existing eligibility and admissibility requirements. If you are extended family, you do not need a non-optional, non-discretionary reason to travel to Canada.

After tourists stopped arriving this spring, the 607-room property transformed into housing for doctors and nurses treating coronavirus patients. Longwoods International’s latest edition of its COVID-19 Travel Sentiment Tracking Study (Wave 21) has found that American travellers are choosing lodgings for their trips based upon the degree of coronavirus protections they offer. Northwestern Ontario residents told to avoid non-essential travel to Manitoba as COVID-19 cases climb

Residents in northwestern Ontario are being warned not to travel outside their region because of a spike in COVID-19 cases in both Manitoba and southern Ontario. "Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Manitoba and southern Ontario, non-essential travel outside of northern Ontario should be avoided," said Dr. Kit Young-Hoon, medical officer of health at Northwestern Health Unit, in an Oct. 1 news release.

It is important to make alternative transportation arrangements to get your child to and from school in the event of a cancellation.”

Guelph showing 'leadership in Canada' with bus fleet electrification

With an eye toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the potential for operational savings, several Ontario municipalities, including Guelph, have started down the path toward electrifying their bus fleet. Federal government announces $1.5 billion for zero-emission buses and charging infrastructure

The Canadian government today announced it is allocating $1.5 billion to “accelerate the adoption of zero-emission buses and charging infrastructure so Canadians can have cleaner commutes.” The funds are part of a larger three-year, $10 billion “Growth Plan” that will also invest in clean energy projects, broadband expansion, agricultural irrigation and building retrofits. The spending is expected to create roughly 60,000 jobs along the way and help shore up a COVID-19 battered economy.

Greyhound leaving downtown Ottawa bus terminal
