Lockheed strikes maintenance alliance with Middle East's Skyone

Lockheed Martin's San Antonio operation has been named Skyone Maintenance Services' preferred provider for engine maintenance, repair and overhaul, officials said recently at the Dubai Air Show. Skyone, based in the Emirates of Fujairah, provides maintenance services for Airbus and Boeing commercial aircraft. It has used Lockheed for engine-repair work in the past.More

Airbus delivers first ROPS-equipped A319 to American Airlines

Airbus delivered its first Airbus A320 family aircraft equipped with Runway Overrun Prevention System to American Airlines. FAA recently certified the ROPS technology. According to Airbus, the onboard cockpit technology "increases pilots' situational awareness during landing, reduces exposure to runway excursion risk and, if necessary, provides active protection." The European Aviation Safety Agency certified ROPS on the A320ceo family in August.More

Myanmar looks to private firms to improve dire air safety record
Myanmar aims to lure private companies to upgrade and run nearly half its airports in a bid to spruce up its poor record on air safety and support a fast-growing tourism industry, officials said recently. Myanmar has an air accident rate nine times the world average, aviation authorities say, and there are fears the figure could rise as the government aggressively expands the industry and private airlines add flights in a growing economy.More

Helicopter MRO Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services North America, a subsidiary of Vector Aerospace, has signed a five-year agreement with Era Helicopters to repair and overhaul dynamic components for Era's Sikorsky S-76 and Eurocopter AS350 fleets. Under the terms of the five-year agreement, HSNA will provide Era with inspection, repair, overhaul, testing, modification and other services, including on-site rental assets for Era's S-76 and AS350 fleets.More

Turkish Airlines is adopted the full suite of Rockwell Collins avionics, including the company's MultiScan Threat Detection System and GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver, and satellite communications for 17 Airbus A330, 25 Airbus A320, 20 Boeing 777 and 20 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Turkish Airlines has also entered into a long-term, customized price-per-repair service agreement with Rockwell Collins to support avionics on its new fleet.More

Bombardier Aerospace announced recently that it has signed a repair agreement with Oman Air, based in Muscat, Oman. The eight-year contract will see Bombardier undertake all repair work on Rolls-Royce Trent 700 inlet cowls for Oman Air's fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft.More
