ANSYS teams with Russians for integrated, modular avionics
Engineering simulation software company ANSYS has teamed with a Russian research institute to develop integrated, modular avionics systems. The systems to be developed with GosNIIAS, a Russian state scientific research institute, will help Russian aircraft achieve international aerospace standards, ANSYS said.

Vector Aerospace Engine Services awarded contract for repair and maintenance on CC-138 Twin Otter engines

Vector Aerospace Engine Services — Atlantic of Summerside, Prince Edward Island in Canada, has been awarded a contract valued at more than $1 million for repair and maintenance on the CC-138 Twin Otters' engines, according to a news release from DND. The contract, ending March 31, 2016, also includes seven one-year extension options, which could increase the value of the contract to a maximum of $7.9 million over a 10-year period, the release noted.

Dubai's DAE in talks to merge some assets with BBA Aviation
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, owner of U.S.-based engine repair and maintenance business StandardAero, is in talks to merge parts of its business with British aircraft services firm BBA Aviation, it said recently.

Oxford Aviation resumes repairs after reporting hiccup
Oxford Aviation has resumed repair and maintenance work after federal regulators suspended the company's repair certification for one month. The Sun Journal reported the suspension resulted from a change in the way airplane repair companies are to report management and personnel changes to the Federal Aviation Administration.

ISU students restore WWII vet's C-170 Cessna

World War II vet James "Jim" Wallace, 93, got to fly in his rebuilt 1948 Cessna C-170 airplane at Pocatello Airport earlier this month. The aircraft was received by the Idaho State University College of Technology Aircraft Maintenance Technology program almost a decade ago from Wallace in a crate.
