The President's Christmas Message

The holidays are here! It's amazing how quickly the season comes around. It seems to come faster every year. Fortunately as a good project manager, I always have a plan to help the season go smoothly! While not all our members celebrate Christmas, I'm sure everyone enjoys the feeling that always comes with it. People are just nicer, they smile more, there's beautiful lights, and let’s not forget the baking! Definitely one of the fringe benefits of this time of year.

OVOC is full steam ahead during the holidays! Elections for the PMI OVOC board of directors have begun and we have four vacancies to fill. Volunteering for the board gives you increased visibility into OVOC and the running of a business which is a huge boost to anyone's career. Information about the election process can be found on our web site and I encourage you to consider this very rewarding experience.

On behalf of the PMI OVOC board of directors, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish our members, volunteers, sponsors and partners a very happy, healthy and safe holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Please be aware that PMI OVOC will close for the holidays at noon on Dec. 24. We will return on Jan. 5 and any emails to the board or general mailbox will be answered at that time. More

A PMI OVOC Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and the elves were at rest.
Something quite different made this year the best.
The toys were all made, the sleigh was all packed.
The jolly old fellow was asleep in his rack.
What made it so different this year you might ask?
They hired a PM to manage their tasks.
With Gantt charts and minutes, he made everything clear.
So the North Pole was quiet, with Christmas so near.
So what is the lesson we think you should learn?
Hire certified PMs your respect he will earn.

How to manage a tech-team and project when you don't know anything about tech
The Huffington Post
I'm not particularly tech-savvy. My phone isn't filled with apps (I don't have a smart phone), I'm not adept at @mentions, and to be honest, I don't really think in 140 characters comments. Be that as it may, I recently launched my site, an undertaking that required me to interview and hire a designer and web developer... without really "speaking tech" myself.More
