Oakland, Calif., to pay for medical costs in police crash

The city of Oakland, Calif., will pay $630,000 to a man who suffered a broken back in a crash with a police car, but city officials aren't admitting liability in the case. The San Francisco Chronicle reports the city agreed to make the payment to cover the medical costs for Daniel Pena-Marquez after the August 2006 crash. More

Starting on Wednesday, May 18, the San Francisco Giants face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a two-game series, the first at Dodger Stadium, in Los Angeles, since the season opener. After the opening day game, Giants fan Brian Stow suffered a severe brain injury in an attack by two Dodger fans in the stadium parking lot. The attack led to heightened security at Dodger games, and also led many baseball fans to question the safety of seeing a game at Chavez Ravine. More
