Ebola scare poses dilemma: Civil rights versus public safety
Portland Press Herald
The specter of an Ebola outbreak in the United States, no matter how unlikely, has led some states to take the extraordinary step of requiring an entire group of people to be quarantined even though the risk they pose to the public may be remote. That situation has led to a potential showdown between Kaci Hickox and Maine officials over whether the nurse can be quarantined against her will.

Too much student tracking?
Governing
Do you know where your student is? At school? On the bus? Paying for lunch in the cafeteria? Principals in thousands of the nation’s schools know the answer because radio frequency chips are embedded in students’ ID cards, or their schools are equipped with biometric scanners that can identify portions of a student’s fingerprint, the iris of an eye or a vein in a palm.
