United States Air Force member based in Canada recognized for dedication

Lieutenant-Colonel Nathan Willis, United States Air Force (USAF), was recently recognized as the first Air Force (United States Air Force) Field Grade Officer of the Third Quarter (July to September 2020). He was honoured for his work as a member of Canadian NORAD Region headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at a virtual ceremony held by Lieutenant-General Kirk S. Pierce, Commander of First Air Force, Air Forces Northern and Continental NORAD Region on Friday, November 20, 2020.

On l’a récompensé de son travail en tant que membre du personnel du quartier général de la Région canadienne du NORAD à Winnipeg, au Manitoba, à l’occasion d’une cérémonie virtuelle tenue par le lieutenant-général Kirk S. Pierce, commandant de la First Air Force, des forces aériennes des régions du nord et continentale du NORAD, le vendredi 20 novembre 2020.

A Lancaster Bomber that spent 50 years in static display in Edmundston New Brunswick is now at the National Air Force Museum of Canada where crews are working to retore it Plans call for the aircraft to be available for display on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Canadian Air Force in 2024; but the pandemic cost the project five months. Still volunteers are confident they can make the anniversary deadline and they are working feverishly, albeit under COVID distancing conditions.

The 561 Nelson Osprey Squadron cadets received a nice surprise in December during the first parade when Royal Canadian Air Cadets Major Regan Wickett joined in for a Zoom meeting.
Major Wickett is the Deputy Commanding Officer and Standards Officer for the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the “SNOWBIRDS” of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

U.S. to move aircraft carrier out of Mideast amid Iran tension

The Pentagon has decided to send home the only Navy aircraft carrier operating in the Middle East, a move that will reduce American firepower in the region amid heightened tensions with Iran.
The decision, announced Thursday by the acting secretary of defence, Christopher Miller, came one day after Air Force B-52 bombers flew nonstop from the United States to the Persian Gulf in a show of force that military officials said was intended to caution Iran against carrying out attacks against U.S. forces or interests.
