Havasu News
The Royal Canadian Air Force began intermediate test flights in Havasu, CO, recently, and the city will host its pilots until the end of the month.
Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport manager Steve Johnston received a phone call in the fall, when RCAF officers announced that Havasu would be one of five airports to be considered for test flights in the U.S. Pilots met secretly with members of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and CVB representatives gave them a tour of the city.

The jockeying to build Canada's long-awaited, fixed-wing, search-and-rescue planes has begun with the deadline for the submission of bids in the estimated $3.1 billion program.
With the ink barely dry on its proposal, Airbus Defence is saying that should its C-295 transport be selected, it will partner with Newfoundland-based Provincial Aerospace, to provide long-term maintenance and support to the fleet.

Parts stripped from U.S. presidential helicopters have played a critical role in keeping the Canadian military's search-and-rescue chopper fleet flying, according to documents obtained by the Citizen, but the air force is still undecided on whether the former American aircraft will be joining its ranks.
Canada purchased the nine new VH-71 presidential helicopters and more than 800,000 spare parts in 2012 after U.S. President Barack Obama shut down the multi-billion dollar program and decided that existing aircraft were good enough for his needs.

A Sarnia man has created a website as a tribute to his pilot dad, who defied the odds by surviving 43 harrowing bombing missions over Germany and Italy in the Second World War.
"I used to tell him he's a refugee from the law of averages," Tom Dunn said of his late father.
Indeed, Sean Hugh Dunn would seem an unlikely war hero. He grew up in comfort in Washington, D.C., and left to attend a prestigious university in a luxury car during the height of the Great Depression, his son said.

Canadian fighter jets taking part in the air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have had a busy start to 2016.
The Canadian Forces says two CF-18 Hornets took to the skies recently to attack ISIL fighting positions in Ramadi in support of Iraqi security forces.
Canadian warplanes were also kept busy with two separate missions.
