The Royal Canadian Air Force is hoping to address a critical shortage of experienced pilots by scooping up some of the hundreds of commercial pilots whose jobs have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Commercial carriers across Canada furloughed hundreds of pilots, technicians and other staff last month as the airline industry struggled with plummeting demand due to travel restrictions and other fallout from the global pandemic.

Early Monday April 20th, Canadian Armed Forces released a statement advising residents of Yellowknife of increased Royal Canadian Air Force activity operating out of Yellowknife Airport.
The aircrafts, including CC-177 Globemasters and CC-130J Hercules are conducting regular resupply missions to northern Canadian Armed Forces establishments, including Canadian Forces Station Alert.

With ongoing concerns from the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of North Bay, in partnership with 22 Wing North Bay, has made the decision to cancel Armed Forces Day.
This year’s event was scheduled to go on June 10. Officials from the City say the decision was made to protect the public, volunteers and the Canadian Armed Forces SkyHawks, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the CF-18 Demonstration Team.

Lower Mainland reservists will begin sequestering themselves at the Vernon Military Camp beginning on April 21, according to the Canadian Armed Forces.
“Sequestration is an extreme form of isolation,” said Col. Paul Ursich, commander of the Land Component Command for JTF(P), in a social media post.
