As part of the Government of Canada's expanded contribution to multinational efforts to degrade and defeat the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Canadian Armed Forces recently added three CH-146 Griffon helicopters, an all-source intelligence centre, and additional trainers to Operation IMPACT.
The three CH-146 Griffon helicopters will enhance in-theatre tactical transport, including medical evacuations if required. The Griffons and their crews excel in the tactical transportation of troops and materiel. A variety of self-defence weapons are fitted to the aircraft for the deployment.

The Snowbirds, Canadian Armed Forces' air demonstration team, flew over Washington, D.C., recently as a "friendship salute" to its U.S. neighbors.
It was also an early celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary, to take place in 2017.
The aircraft formation of nine CT-114 Tutor planes with trailing white smoke passed the south edge of National Mall at about 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle. A tenth Tutor serving as the photo aircraft was also in the air. The team performed additional aerobatics and a smoke show at Dulles International Airport.

Now, more than 70 years later — in her early 90s — she is at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum looking at her uniform in a glass display case.

Porter, now 93, was co-pilot of one of the two Dakotas (DC-3) aircraft which, in 1945 carried eight top Nazi generals and admirals to Gen. Dwight Eisenhower's headquarters to sign the instruments of surrender at the end of the Second World War.
