Sergeant Jocelyn Mayer of 438 Tactical Helicopter "City of Montreal" Squadron, located at St-Hubert, Quebec, won the top award at the end of the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Class 17-3, an intense leadership course in Tennessee, U.S.A.
For six weeks, more than 100 senior non-commissioned officers (NCOs) sharpened their skills in managing air units at the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center.

A Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) delegation recently conducted a preliminary anthropometric examination of the cockpit of the Airbus C295W aircraft, which has been selected for Canada’s Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) program. The examination at Airbus's Seville, Spain, C295W final assembly line allowed the RCAF to gain more a detailed familiarity with the aircraft's design and layout from a human factors perspective, demonstrating that RCAF equipment such as flight clothing, helmets and night-vision goggles will integrate with the flight-deck.

The federal government has awarded B.C.'s KF Aerospace a pair of multimillion-dollar contracts to look after two sets of planes for the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The first deal is worth $21.8 million and will ensure the country's CC-115 Buffalo search and rescue aircraft are kept in working order. The RCAF has a half-dozen of the de Havilland planes, which are based in Comox, B.C. The maintenance contract covers three years and includes an option to extend the deal into a fourth year.

"Exercise Maple Flag, and those like it, enables the RCAF to continue its history of generating world-class air power," said MGen Christian Drouin, commander of 1 Canadian Air Division and the Canadian NORAD Region.

Canada is extending its commitment to an international maritime security mission in the waters off the Middle East for another four years, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan announced today.
"It is a clear display of our solidarity with partners and allies in the global fight against terrorism," Sajjan said of Operation Artemis, Canada's contribution to a multinational maritime security force in the region.
